Concept Team Lead / Subcontracting Manager

Description of the position

As a Concept Team Lead / Subcontracting Manager at Ubisoft Montréal, you will support the art direction and oversee visual development as well as the execution of subcontracting operations for Rainbow Six Siege. You will maintain a high level of quality for concept art, mentor external concept artists, and ensure that deliverables respect the game’s creative vision and technical constraints.

What you will do

  • Write clear and comprehensive concept art briefs, including written instructions, visual references, and technical guidelines.
  • Present and explain these briefs to external studios and review them with the team at the start of each season.
  • Review outsourced concept art and provide structured feedback through written comments, visual adjustments, and participation in review calls.
  • Collaborate with the art direction team on personalization to evaluate and validate concept illustrations for production.
  • Contribute to the organization, setup, testing, and ongoing management of the concept art subcontracting workflow, including onboarding new partners.
  • Coordinate with other concept art leads to maintain visual consistency between internal and external deliverables.
  • Support the Monetization and Narrative teams to ensure visual consistency with the brand identity and game narrative.
  • Participate in the integration and use of ShotGrid as an asset tracking tool.
  • Collaborate with art direction as needed throughout the project.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • Ability to produce high-quality concept art, from quick sketches to finalized concept illustrations.
  • Ease in presenting creative ideas and integrating feedback to improve illustrations.
  • Understanding of real-time constraints, 3D engines, and production processes.
  • Management skills to plan, prioritize, and track team tasks.
  • Comfort mentoring concept artists and providing constructive, precise feedback.
  • Knowledge of tools such as ShotGrid, Jira, or Perforce (asset).
  • Ability to collaborate with external partners on creative deliverables.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and problem solving.
