Band: B
Salary: £27,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Salford, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, or Belfast, with travel to other BBC sites as required

Job Purpose
We are looking for a Commercial Development and Partnerships Assistant to join the BBC Commercial, Rights and Business Affairs (CRBA) team.
CRBA manages and connects the BBC’s Intellectual Property, strategic and business interests through expert negotiation, contracting and commercial deal-making. It is comprised of multiple business teams embedded in Content (including Television, Radio & Music, Children’s & Education, Sport), News, Technology & Product together with a central CRBA team. The teams share many common business activities key to the commissioning, production and distribution of the BBC’s services and content. Also, the teams work with the BBC’s professional services including Finance, HR, Legal, Editorial Policy and Strategy.
The CRBA Commercial Development and Partnerships Content team is a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for delivering commercial, rights and business affairs support for BBC Content, which commissions, licences and acquires bold and ambitious award winning content for its portfolio of branded platforms including BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, BBC Bitesize and a range of the UK’s leading television and radio channels.
This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time for the BBC. You will be instrumental in helping BBC Content in its aim to deliver world class content with a distinctly British perspective, working with the best producers and creatives to transform lives and fulfil the BBC’s mission to inform, educate and entertain.
All CRBA colleagues are ‘agile workers’ and our expectation is that they will work an average of 2-3 days per week in BBC buildings and some time working from home. From time to time you may be required to work in other areas of CRBA to broaden knowledge, skills and experience
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This post is primarily to support the management of the CRBA Commercial Development and Partnerships team across BBC Content business development, franchise and partnership activity. This role is at the heart of the team, providing assistance and administration for a range of commercial, franchise and partnership deal making across various platforms and genres.
As a CRBA Assistant, you will be integral to the day-to-day output of the Commercial Development and Partnerships activity across all BBC Content. It’s an exciting and challenging time and you will be working with stakeholders across the BBC Group and externally.
Further responsibilities will include:
• Working with the team to help manage key relationships with third parties for exploitation deals across a range of disciplines from licensing to live events
• Assisting in the liaising with 3rd party distributors and rights owners (e.g. producers/talent/contributors)
• Running clearance checks on materials and contributors used in content
• Developing presentations for brand development and new commercial opportunities both internally and externally
• Researching new commercial opportunities and appropriate partners, and assisting the team in identifying new business opportunities
• To provide research support on relevant content and partnership opportunities and competitor activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
• You have proven experience gained working in the production, broadcast or digital media industry.
• You will be familiar and can demonstrate a working knowledge of BBC output across all platforms.
• You have the ability to work independently and can demonstrate that you are an excellent communicator, with experience of developing and maintaining relationships with 3rd party organisations.
• Good interpersonal skills and experience of developing good working relationships.
• Excellent IT skills with experience of databases, administration systems and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organisation, coordination and time management skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to examine and summarise complex data.
In addition, the following are desirable:
o Knowledge of BBC rights policies and strategies and how the BBC commercial business fits in to that
o Demonstrable ability to analyse and review business information effectively to extract insights to inform business decisions.
