Job description

At Mailbird, we’re all about making email management frustration-free and empowering users to transform their inbox into an efficient workspace. Our platform integrates multiple email accounts and apps into one intuitive hub, creating a seamless communication experience. With our recenty launched Mac version and plans for further expansion, we’re seeking a visionary CPTO to help shape the future of our product.

If you’re passionate about building tools that simplify digital interactions, and you thrive at the intersection of product vision and technological leadership, join us in transforming email for millions of users!

As CPTO, you’ll be the driving force behind both our product innovation and technological execution. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead the product journey from concept to completion while ensuring our technical architecture is strong, scalable, and secure. You’ll balance creativity with technical feasibility and guide Mailbird’s growth as we explore new ventures like mobile development.

How you’ll lead:

Product vision & strategy

  • Translate visionary ideas into actionable product plans by making key decisions on product architecture and team structure. Ensure our strategy is ambitious yet grounded in technical and real-world feasibility.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle—from ideation and research to launch—ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within scope. Your hands-on approach will be vital when needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and growth teams to refine the product roadmap, keeping the user experience front and center.

Technology leadership

  • Guide and support the development team, making strategic decisions on software architecture to ensure our tech stack is future-proof.
  • Leverage agile development methodologies to deliver exceptional software—working in lean, iterative cycles to build robust solutions from the ground up.
  • While primarily leading from a strategic level, you’re not afraid to get hands-on when needed—whether maintaining the C# codebase or addressing critical technical issues during pivotal moments (FYI: our stack includes C# for applications, JavaScript frameworks for the web, and Google Cloud for services).

Team leadership & development

  • Work closely with the CEO and department heads to align technology and product strategies with company goals.
  • Step in to solve complex technical challenges when necessary, setting high standards for excellence and attention to detail for your team.
  • Recognize that each team member has unique strengths and needs. Work closely with HR to hire great people and enhance the team's well-being and performance.

Job requirements

Blend of expertise

  • Proven experience in managing digital product development from initial concepts to fully realized solutions—skilled in translating complex product requirements into actionable and deliverable features.
  • Extensive experience in designing and developing software applications from the implementation phase to the architectural level, with expertise in C# development.
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing technological services (e.g., Google Workspace, Azure).

The human element

  • Proven track record as a technical and product leader within a startup or fast-paced environment, ideally as a CTO, CPTO, or similar role in a software company.
  • Ability to inspire and lead by example, setting high standards for technical excellence and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with success in leading and motivating cross-functional teams, understanding individual strengths and needs, and fostering a supportive environment.
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate both synchronously and asynchronously across global teams.
