The details:

  • Maximum Term Full Time
  • Parental Leave relief role and it is anticipated appointment will be until August 2025.
  • Current permanent team members are welcome to apply to be considered for this role and if successful will maintain their permanent tenure.
  • $94,415 pa + 12% super + leave loading + 9 day fortnight Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A,) - Level 5 of EBA5
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Our Strathpine office has local parking on-site and is in close proximity to public transport networks.

Our Building and Facilities Planning Department works in partnership with all Divisions of Council with a focus on long and medium term planning services for Council Owned and Operated, Corporate, Commercial, and Community Leased buildings portfolio of assets.

We achieve this through provision of mix use of internal and external resources. The department provides internal engineering and technical advice and approvals, life cycle assessments, search, trial, and business cases for implementing of energy efficiency and other building management technologies, development and implementation of strategic, master, and tactical planning services and policy, standards and guidelines making for Council's buildings and facilities consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies, and strategies. We are also responsible for procuring, contracting, and providing contractor and consultant management for planning related operational projects.

About the role

As our Building Design and Accommodation Officer you will be a part of our Buildings and Facilities Planning team . You will provide planning, coordination, and implementation of staff workstation accommodation across council, preparing concept building layouts and designs aligned to Council’s capital development program and in compliance with Australian standards and building codes.

In addition, you will:

  • Prepare architectural and office lay out designs for new and existing council facilities
  • resolve technical and non-technical issues as they arise and consult with internal and external stakeholders
  • develop and implement MBRC technical standards, policies and guidelines for buildings and facilities
  • assist with design of council building projects, including scoping, schedule of finishes, briefing, reviewing of drawings, and answering of `Request for Information`s
  • engage with the project management department to assist with long term accommodation proposals

About You

We are seeking someone with demonstrated experience in accommodation planning, analysis, and coordination of change programs to facilitate staff movements and changes to workspace layouts, functions, and locations. You will have ample experience providing architectural and building advice on project related matters, and the ability to clearly communicate intended designs and applications for buildings.

You will be motivated to effectively influence and communicate to all levels of the organisation, to ensure you achieve high quality outcomes for the council and community.

Additionally, you will have:

  • comprehensive experience in providing architectural and building advice in a similar role
  • sound investigative, analytical, design and research skills
  • understanding of software applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, and MS Office to manipulate and present relevant data
  • knowledge and applied understanding of architectural and engineering principles and practices including National Construction Code requirements
  • knowledge of council and industry guidelines and frameworks such as planning schemes, QDesign, Your Home & Living Guidelines, GBCA Green star, and NABERS
  • excellent time management skills and effectiveness in managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines

Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent tertiary qualification is essential and a general induction license (White Card) and Current C class Drivers’ License.
