About the team
The Bid Management department is a team of 9 colleagues from different nationalities and with varying backgrounds like technical, legal, commercial and military. As a team we are responsible for the timely construction of winning proposals and their accompanying price, in line with the agreed objectives. Within this department we are in search for a :
Bid Manager
As a bid manager, you will also be part of one of our Customer Account Teams (CAT). These multi-disciplinary, result-oriented teams consists of one or more Bid Managers, plus Sales Managers, Project Managers, Service & Delivery Managers and/or System Architects, all focused on one or a set of key accounts. Being part of a CAT places you in direct contact with our customers and might even provide the challenge of capturing a lead yourself!
About your future job
Your main goal is the winning / capturing of sales opportunities by offering the right solution at the right price to our customers to serve our end-users. Your role is essential in winning tomorrows projects.
To achieve this, you will lead the internal bid team, existing of specialists from various disciplines. For most of our offers, we work together closely with other Thales entities or industrial partners. Our technical solutions are, more often than not, part of a larger system. As bid manager, you work together with colleagues worldwide to make sure everything adds up and comes together.
The main tasks are:
- leading and managing the internal bid team by: analysing tender requests, creating and managing the bid planning, coordinating all bid activities, managing needed and allocated bid resources, consolidating the project cost estimates and planning of various offer reviews and approvals
- contribute to the win strategy for each opportunity and implement this strategy in our tender responses
- in-time creation and delivery of winning commercial and technical tender response, following the Thales’ processes and governance;
- assure completeness and consistency of all baseline documentation for the future project;
- contribute to contract negotiations with the customer and making sure the transition to the project phase (for delivering the contract) runs smoothly;
- initiate and contribute to continuous improvements within our ‘Manage Bid’ process.
Why you'd be a good match
As our new bid manager, you:
- have a relevant bachelor or master degree in for example engineering or (technical) business administration or demonstrable relevant working experience at this level,
- are currently working as a tender manager, proposal manager, project manager or bid manager and are looking for a new challenge in a complex, international organization
- have a profound interest in technology and commerce in an international, technically oriented environment;
- like to work in a multidisciplinary team and motivate others (perform through cooperation)
- easily engage stakeholders (internally) and customers in an international and cross-cultural environment
- are able to manage several bids simultaneously, while keeping the overview at all times, and are proactive and able to overcome challenges (shape solutions out of complexity)
- brings structure and clarity in the bid team and eagerness to win the bid (be ambitious and accountable)
- have excellent communication skills in English and preferably also Dutch,
- are able and willing to travel occasionally to our international partners and customers, inside and outside of Europe
