Scope and Purpose

  • Leads the operational management of domestic and international guarantees, including issuance, monitoring, and cancellation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Executes guarantee transactions end to end—drafting terms, liaising with applicants, beneficiaries, advising/issuing banks, and Public Authorities’ telematic platforms (SEDA, SECAD)—in line with URDG 758, UCP 600, ISP 98, and internal compliance rules (KYC, AML, sanctions).
  • Manages risk proactively, reviewing contractual terms in coordination with Legal advisors, monitoring expiry and claim dates, ensuring accurate SWIFT messaging, and overseeing the management of collateral and counter-guarantee conditions.
  • Acts as a key contact for internal and external clients, advising on guarantee structures, pricing, and timelines, and resolving operational and technical issues in a timely, client-oriented manner.
  • Participates in client meetings alongside Relationship Managers (RMs), contributing technical expertise to support commercial discussions and deal structuring.
  • Monitors and replies to SWIFT messages, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment with transaction documentation.
  • Optimises daily processes and reporting, leveraging core banking and trade finance systems to track volumes, analyse exposure, and propose improvements that enhance turnaround time and internal control.
  • Ensures business continuity by maintaining updated procedures, sharing knowledge across the team, and providing reliable back-up within a small, agile department structure.

Required Experience

Prior experience at least 3 years in Bank Guarantees (domestic and international), 5 years of banking industry experience

Competencies Required

  • University degree in Economics/Business Administration or equivalent
  • Strong background and work experience in Trade Finance
  • Solid understanding of different types of guarantees (bid bonds, performance bonds, advance payment guarantees, etc.) and the legal and contractual implications associated with them
  • Experience regarding various telematic platforms of Public Authorities (ex. SEDA, SECAD)
  • Familiarity with international rules and practices governing guarantees (e.g. URDG 758, UCP 600, ISP98)
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to trade finance operations, including KYC, AML, and sanctions screening.
  • Used to dealing with clients, public entities and financial entities
  • Knowledge of SWIFT messages
  • Good knowledge of MS Office package (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Languages: fluency/excellent communications skills (verbal and written) in Spanish and English. Italian is a plus.
