Job Introduction
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a permanent Research Manager to join our Customer Insight team within the Audiences division. This role is pivotal in curating and connecting Audience insights to the rest of the organisation. So we are seeking an experienced researcher with a deep understanding of insights, who can unlock their potential for all BBC staff.
The role offers a great opportunity for anyone who has strong story telling skills, is a self-starter and is comfortable speaking in front of senior stakeholders and 100 new BBC staff employees. The role could be based in London or Salford. If Salford based, it will likely require regular travel for meetings in Central London.
Main Responsibilities
As Research Manager, your responsibilities will include the following.
Editorial leadership of BBC insight touch points:
- Curating our pan-BBC insight from various insight sources to create easily digestible & engaging comms– delivering a regular flow of thought leadership around topics, issues and areas the BBC needs to focus on to deliver on its strategy
- Collaborate with our divisional Audience insight teams & work with external thought leaders / partners to ensure a regular flow of insight comms that will help drive the BBCs ‘value for all strategy’
- Taking an editorial leadership role of the Audience Portal (our insight repository) & our internal comms channels (staff gateway, internal screens etc)
Understanding how our staff are using our insight today – and what we can do to improve the use of our insight in the future
- Monitoring staff usage and feedback of the Audience Portal and our all staff comms assets
Project manage the creation and delivery of high impact insight comms:
- Oversee and develop insight packs to support internal comms assets – including insight Masterclasses, topic deep-dives & case studies; all focussed on helping our staff to make greater use of audience insight to deliver brilliant experiences
- Working with Internal Comms, Journalists & Presenters and Freelancers to create our comms assets
Are you the right candidate?
The role requires strong research and data skills, as well as an ability to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues within Audience teams to senior stakeholders across the business to help us translate insight into action, so we’re ideally looking for someone who;
- Has a proven track record of delivering high quality, evidence based research – with extensive experience of quantitative and quantitative research and complex data sets
- Has past experience running strategic research – using insight to inform business strategies or policies
- Has strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Able to write structured, insight driven and persuasive documents
- Good experience of communicating insight within large, complex organisations to inspire staff and drive action
- Is a creative problem solver – and able to evaluate research solutions and data sets to extract maximum value and insight

Location: London or Salford - requires 2-3 days in the office a week, with some hybrid-working
Salary: Anticipated range £45,000 to £53,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319 if London based), dependent upon experience
