About the function…

This role sits within the Processing section of Accounting Services. The overall role of the department is to deliver bulk transactional activities on behalf of the whole Business and continually search for areas for potential improvement both within and outside of the department. This always will be done by working collaboratively with Finance teams and others, across Network Rail.

What Does the Average Day Look Like?

Imagine a day where you:

📊 Produce period actuals and forecasts, providing insightful key variance commentaries.

🔄 Identify and eliminate process and reporting defects through LEAN management, ensuring a right-first-time approach.

🌟 Share best practices to create consistent, standardized, and fully documented accounting services processes.

📈 Deliver all accounting and reporting services in line with service level agreements.

🌐 Collaborate with stakeholders, fostering strong team and customer relationships.

📊 Provide investment/project accounting services, contributing to our business areas' success.

 

What essential skills and experiences are required?

The successful candidate for this role will be required to be/have: -

1.     Working towards or member of a relevant professional body, (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT).

2.     Sufficient experience in a finance management accountant/support role.

3.     Advanced Excel skills and high-level numerical skills and ability to interpret data quickly.

4.     Strong attention to detail.

5.     Successful experience of working in a customer focused environment.

6.     React swiftly to customer requests and proven successful ability to proactively resolve issues.

7.     Knowledge of current accounting standards.

Band & Salary: Band 5 – £25,000 - £28,000 per annum
