  • $94,415pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 5 of EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Strathpine

About our opportunity

As our Asset Accountant you will be a part of our Accounting Services department. This position will undertake a range of asset accounting activities and act as one of the primary contacts with internal and external stakeholders on relevant asset accounting matters.

Your primary tasks will include:

  • providing timely and accurate recognition (capitalisation) of assets recorded onto Councils financial asset register along with disposals, depreciation, revaluations, useful life reviews and residual values
  • provide complex financial asset information to support Council’s periodic, statutory, and reporting needs, including, notes to financial statements, depreciation, asset management plans and insurance reporting.

About you

We are seeking someone with a level of knowledge and experience who has worked in an organisation with a large infrastructure asset base. You will have a good understanding of accounting practices, procedures, standards, and legislation to successfully provide financial advice and support with asset accounting matters. You will need to hold a Degree in Accounting and/or Commerce or equivalent and have relevant years’ experience.

You will have strong negotiation skills, who can influence and effectively communicate to meet the needs of a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Strong attention to detail is a must, to ensure you are undertaking accounting activities with efficiency and accuracy.
