JOB TITLE: ASP to VB.NET Programmer (Legacy Application Conversion)

RATE: PHP 476.19 per hour

WORK TYPE:

• Remote/WFH
• Part-time, Project-based
• Starting at 20 hours per week
• Potential to transition into a full-time and long-term position, subject to client needs and performance.

Target Timeline: Mid-January start, with completion no later than end of March

JOB OVERVIEW:

A shoe manufacturing company is seeking an experienced programmer to help convert and modernize legacy Classic ASP applications into VB.NET, using SQL Server databases, objects, and stored procedures. The role will initially involve working alongside the existing developer to unblock current technical challenges and ensure proper knowledge transfer, with the expectation that the new hire will take ownership of the website and related systems moving forward.

JOB ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities (Phase 1 – Migration Focus)

• Convert and refactor existing Classic ASP applications to VB.NET, with the primary objective of completing a full and functional migration.
• Work with SQL Server, including database objects and stored procedures.
• Collaborate closely with the existing programmer during the transition period to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
• Focus on stabilizing and validating the migrated system before moving into optimization efforts.
• Identify and implement minor efficiency improvements only when necessary to support a successful migration, without losing sight of the primary goal.
• Ensure smooth integration between legacy systems and the existing VB.NET website.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently to maintain project momentum.
• Note: This role and scope apply to Phase 1 only, which is focused on completing the migration. Once the site is fully migrated and stable, Phase 2 will address broader efficiency and optimization improvements.

Systems / Modules Involved

The project includes converting and integrating legacy interfaces related to the following modules (order and priority may change and should remain flexible as the project progresses):

• Customer Management
• Order Management
• Invoicing
• Manufacturing Management

These systems will be converted and integrated into and/or interfaced with an existing VB.NET website.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong experience with Classic ASP
• Strong experience with VB.NET
• Solid working knowledge of SQL Server, including stored procedures
• Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy applications
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
• Nice to Have
• Experience working in manufacturing or ERP-style systems
• Prior experience taking ownership of legacy systems post-handoff
