Position Description:

As an Animation Team Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the Project Lead (CP) or Production Manager (PM) in ensuring the quality and meeting deadlines for your small team. You will collaborate on tracking your team's work, coach team members, and validate production deliverables, while also maintaining a portion of hands-on animation development if needed.

What you will do:

  • Create, prioritize, assign, and track daily tasks and the progress of your team's work based on deliverables.
  • Act as the representative of your team.
  • Organize and manage your team's meetings.
  • Review the game’s story, gameplay, and cinematics (game design documents) and master the technical and/or artistic constraints to properly guide and coach your team.
  • Provide periodic status reports to the CP/PM on your team's task progress and propose corrective measures when necessary to meet set objectives.
  • Anticipate and address potential conflict situations and suggest solutions to the CP/PM as part of problem resolution within your team.
  • Serve as a technical and/or artistic mentor for your team members, when applicable.
  • Participate in performance reviews in collaboration with the CP/PM.
  • Coordinate the correction of bugs related to your team's work.
  • Ensure the integration of new hires into your team.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts to grow your team.
  • Produce a portion of the animation work.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in video game animation.
  • Relevant experience in animation and team management.
  • Solid understanding of animation principles, game engines, production pipelines, and their constraints.
  • Proficiency with animation software (preferred: MotionBuilder).
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with motion capture workflows.
  • Familiarity with game engines/tools and production pipelines.
