Animatable Systems Creator (Senior Rigger)

Position Description

As an Animatable Systems Creator (rigger) at Ubi MTL, you will enable characters and objects to come to life and move realistically within our worlds.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with the art team to understand the overall game vision and animation/appearance needs.
  • Review concept art and research references.
  • Create rigs and apply textures for characters and objects while remaining organized (keep scenes tidy, follow naming conventions, etc.).
  • Balance artistic needs and technical constraints with the help of technical directors.
  • Collaborate with character modelers to fix models as needed.
  • Work with animators to make models move realistically and manage movement limits.
  • Refine your work based on feedback from cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • Minimum 4–5 years of experience in creating animatable systems, modeling, or animation (or other relevant experience).
  • Strong knowledge of 3DS Max.
  • Knowledge of other 3D software is a strong plus (Maya and MotionBuilder) and familiarity with scripting.
  • Good knowledge of anatomy and cloth/soft tissue.
  • Excellent observational, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative, creative, and innovative mindset.
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness.
  • Willingness to seek and adapt to colleague feedback.
  • Familiarity with game engines (Unity or Unreal) is an asset.
