Location: You can expect to work in a hybrid manner with time spent working in the office and at home. What are we looking for?
- Practical experience of fixed income analysis and modelling, including the development of asset-liability modelling for bespoke projects and exercises
- Experience of working in an investment role within an insurance/banking/consulting/asset management environment
- A good understanding of key asset classes that pension schemes will use as part of their investment strategy, including instruments used within LDI strategies
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to work quickly and accurately with a high attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, including experience of interacting with a wide range of stakeholders (including external stakeholders)
- Nearly Qualified / Qualified Investment Actuary or CFA
The role
Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPAs) are a key part of our business strategy here at Phoenix Group. Within the BPA Deal team, we are responsible for pricing, structuring and executing all BPA transactions that Phoenix Group write.
Investments are a key component of the BPA pricing journey and feed into each step of the BPA journey. The role holder will act as a subject matter expert on investments within the team, supporting the team in areas such as:
- For pricing, working closely with Asset Management to construct and optimise portfolios with a focus on investment returns and capital efficiency. We are looking for someone who can effectively engage at a technical level with the wider team, help us improve our pricing approach whilst working in partnership with asset management functions such as ALM (asset liability management) .
- As part of the deal team, structuring and developing market risk solutions such as price roll forward structures which are an instrumental part of a BPA proposal.
- Investment-related aspects of BPA execution, including monitoring price lock performance and working closely with Phoenix Asset Management and scheme’s advisers, asset managers and custodians to support the orderly transition of assets to meet the BPA premium.
- Supporting prospective clients by leveraging investment expertise to provide innovative solutions, helping scheme’s understand their current assets and investigate options to transition them into asset portfolios that we can onboard as part of a BPA transaction.
