This opportunity is accountable for working alongside our highly skilled and extremely professional actuarial services team. Interns are typically placed in a pricing or financial reporting role working side by side with actuaries or senior level actuarial students. They are presented with challenging projects that provide them with useful experience while allowing them to develop their problem solving and decision-making skills.
Past examples of our intern projects involved:
• Predictive modeling
• Time series analysis
• Researching and implementing new actuarial methods to support reserving and rate indication studies

Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the actuarial staff in extracting, compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data in support of the goals of the Actuarial Department
- Make key contributions to various actuarial functions such as: pricing, reserving, modeling, reinsurance, and business planning
- Perform appropriate checks within processes to minimize errors and inaccuracies and verify data reconciliations
- Network with other members of the Department to establish mutual respect in business processes
- Clearly communicate results of projects to technical and non-technical staff and present to entire actuarial and data science department
Required Qualifications
- Completion of High School Diploma/GED
- Full-time current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Actuarial Science
- Must be returning to college/university upon completion of internship.
- Course work or relevant experience with demonstrated achievements
- Ability to work from June 2nd, 2025 to August 8th, 2025
Preferred Competencies/Skills
- Actuarial Exams: Have completed at least one actuarial exam.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and draw meaningful insights.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong mathematical foundation in calculus, probability, and linear algebra.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis and modeling.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong programming skills in: Python, R, SQL, SAS, or Julia for data manipulation and model development.
- Problem-Solving: Proven problem-solving abilities to address challenges in actuarial computations and analysis.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to stakeholders clearly.
- Collaborative Nature: Ability to work in a team environment, collaborating with actuaries and other professionals.
- Ethical Awareness: Understanding of actuarial candidate code of conduct and professional standards.
Preferred Knowledge
- Probability and Statistics: Understanding of probability theory, statistical distributions, and their application in actuarial work.
- Insurance Principles: Familiarity with property and casualty insurance products and terminology.
- P&C Actuarial Concepts: understanding of basic principles of Property & Casualty ratemaking and reserving.

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs.
