Work Experience Apprentice – FIXED TERM UNTIL May 2027

Salary: This is a full time role with a full-time equivalent salary of up to £13,474 per annum.
Working Hours: 33 hours per week over 4 days, working one in four Fridays, 52 weeks per year.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Work Experience Apprentice to join our Student Services department.
The purpose of the role is to provide effective administrative support to the Work Experience Coordinator.
The successful applicant must have:
- GCSE or equivalent (includes Maths and English A* – C/9-4)
- Previous experience in using IT packages, including Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/ Outlook/Teams), in an administrative role
- An understanding of how to effectively handle a range of queries by telephone, face to face or e-mail
- Good knowledge of spreadsheets and filing systems
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload producing accurate work paying close attention to detail, doing so to tight deadlines under pressure
- Excellent oral & written communication skills with staff and students at all levels
- The ability to work effectively within a team and build relationships with colleagues across all departments including external organisations
- Ability to demonstrate initiative & responsibility for their development and that of the role
- Willingness to learn
The roles main duties include:
- Updating spreadsheets – looking up, and adding on, key details for students to the WEX spreadsheets
- Inputting information onto databases
- Chasing Health & Safety paperwork: reissuing the request/contacting employers
- Chasing insurance details and adding them to Grofar
- Contacting students to:
- find out their placement preferences if they need support;
- issue to them prepared guidance for finding a placement;
- obtain details of placements, if students have found them themselves.
- Contacting NOK where they have not provided consent for students to attend WEX
- Sending preplacement reminders to students – where to find their placement information
- Sending reminders to students where they have not logged WEX hours or provided feedback
- Chasing student responses in general
- Emailing updates to tutors
- Researching companies in specific sectors and adding details to Grofar if they are not already on Grofar
- Helping to develop lists of employers to approach for specific groups of students for their placements
- Assisting with displays
- Setting up email campaigns
This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month.
