We're looking for a data-driven full stack Senior Software Engineer to join the Growth team at Discord. Our team is responsible for how Discord shows up across the web- building the systems that help new users discover and understand Discord before they ever sign up. You'll work across the stack to improve our SEO capabilities, from edge compute solutions that serve millions of requests to backend systems that power our web presence. This is a high-impact role where you'll directly influence how Discord acquires and onboards new users at scale. This person will report to the Senior Engineering Manager for Growth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and optimize web experiences that improve Discord's discoverability and search engine presence
- Develop edge compute solutions to serve dynamic, SEO-friendly content at scale
- Work across the full stack, with a focus on frontend technologies (TypeScript, React) while contributing to our backend systems (Python, Flask)
- Design and run experiments to measure the impact of SEO improvements on user acquisition
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to identify high-impact opportunities and iterate quickly
- Maintain performance and reliability standards for user-facing web properties
What you should have
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
- Experience building SEO solutions or working on growth teams focused on acquisition
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with experience building performant web applications
- Familiarity with edge compute platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Vercel Edge Functions, or similar)
- Working knowledge of Python and backend web frameworks like Flask
- A data-driven approach to decision making, with experience designing and interpreting A/B tests
- Curiosity about how search engines and LLMs work and a desire to stay current on SEO & GEO best practices
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
