Job Introduction
We are excited to announce the creation of a new team within People Services to deliver fundamental HR services to our BBC News Gathering teams based outside of the UK. Reporting to the Global People Services Director, we are seeking an energetic and inspirational senior HR leader to build and establish our international people operations from the ground up. This role involves setting up a dedicated team of advisers and Associate HR Business Partners to support approximately 1,500 employees in 60 countries. This position is pivotal in driving our global people strategy, ensuring compliance with local employment laws, and enhancing the people experience in all countries outside the UK. It encompasses both stakeholder management and operational oversight. Our ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of international landscapes, with hands-on experience in markets such as the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
Main Responsibilities
As the Senior HR Business Partner, International People Operations, you will be responsible for establishing and leading our HR operational teams who provide frontline and specialist advice and guidance to line managers and staff. You will ensure our processes and technologies are fit for purpose while proactively leading and continually improving service delivery across the BBC, with the aim of delighting colleagues with the services offered. Working alongside the wider People Services leadership team and in partnership with the International Business Partnering team and broader HR Function, the successful applicant will play a lead role in the success of the HR Operating Model. Ensuring integration across HR to deliver a high-quality, valued HR service that helps to develop leadership capability and the desired organisational culture in line with our strategy.
By leading the team performance, you will ensure our people are developed, motivated, and available to deliver all services that, in turn, add value to the BBC. You will deliver consistently to agreed service level agreements/Key Performance Indicators and look to continually improve HR processes, controls, and procedures, ensuring robust compliance and governance mechanisms are in place.
The role will work closely with the Technology Group to continuously improve our HR systems development and support in embedding more globally focused practices across the wider People Services team.
Other duties will include keeping up to date with external trends and best practices, sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues, and driving innovation to ensure the continuous improvement and development of fit-for-purpose tools for both the business and HR to use.
Are You The Right Candidate?
- Senior Manager level experience of leading HR Service teams in a large, global, and complex organisation.
- Demonstrable experience in promoting a globally minded HR team capable of meeting local needs within a consistent global framework, maintaining alignment with company strategy.
- Experience in leading and developing a globally dispersed team of junior HR professionals.
- Flexibility to travel as appropriate.
- Knowledge or experience of working with HR technology products, specifically SAP HR including SuccessFactors.
- Proven experience in managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
- Able to build strong, trusted relationships across the function, the wider BBC, and externally.
- Special Projects: Participate in HR tech-related projects to simplify, standardise, and maximise opportunities to automate global HR processes.
