Job Introduction
BBC Sport is now seeking a Correspondent to deliver market-leading, interesting and clever insight and analysis across BBC Sport’s platforms on the biggest football stories.
Main Responsibilities
- Cover the most high-profile stories in football across platforms, providing insight and analysis.
- Written pieces turned around under tight deadlines are likely to be a large part of the job.
- Radio and video appearances on those topics will sometimes come alongside.
- Pieces should be original topics, clever, thought-provoking and set the conversation for audiences.
- There is also scope to work on some longer-term projects, for eg background pieces, profiles.
- Work is most often going to be in response to the biggest football story or talking point of the day.
- Maintain and develop some contacts across the industry so you can explain why and how stories and events are happening.
- Attend some key matches and deliver soon after the game finishes.
- Use developments in social media to deliver our journalism to new audiences.
- Act as a role model encouraging team working, creating a climate of integrity and mentor more junior reporters to help develop their skills in this area.
- Seek ways to increase diversity within our content and ensure that our output reflects the audiences we serve.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering information, insight and analysis of football in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. You must have experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong contacts’ book and be willing to use this network to explain the biggest issues in football.
