Salary: This is a full time role with a full-time equivalent salary of up to £33,323 per annum.

Working Hours: 33 hours per week over 4 days, working one in four Fridays, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an English Lecturer to join our Skills for life department.

The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high-quality professional practice and provide quality teaching, learning and assessment at a variety of levels and to devise action plans and maintain appropriate records

The successful applicant must have:

  • Qualified teacher status – PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS or equivalent or willing to work towards
  • Qualified to teach GCSE English up to and including Level 2
  • Knowledge of writing lesson plans and schemes of work and assessing work
  • Communicating effectively with others cross college and curriculum and working effectively in a teamand with young people and adults
  • Being organised, efficient and flexible with good time management and the ability to meet deadlines

The roles main duties include:

  1. Teaching, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses within the curriculum area and across areas
  2. Taking responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area including course leadership if required
  3. Supporting and embedding the Study Programme
  4. Supporting the college and the team in preparation for the Education Inspection Framework
  5. Providing support and guidance to students
  6. Operating as an effective member of relevant course teams and working closely with other areas
  7. Carrying out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard and within established deadlines
  8. Ensuring safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible
  9. Providing such returns or reports as required by the Curriculum Manager or College
  10. Assisting in the recruitment of students, including interviewing and enrolments
  11. Assisting in the marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events
  12. Assisting in the development of curriculum support materials and with programmes of work experience and/or industrial and commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements
  13. Assisting with the enrolment process, including initial and diagnostic assessments to support the students’ progression
  14. Supporting the improvement of High Grades within the area for GCSE and participating with SAR

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month
