Hacienda CDC, a trusted community development corporation that strengthens individuals and families through affordable housing, holistic services, and advocacy, is searching for two proactive Early Childhood Educators to be the encouraging voice who empowers and provides pathways during children’s most formative years!

When you join the Sembrando Semillitas team at Hacienda CDC, you join a well-versed team that is passionate about seeing the positive growth and development of children from the very beginning. Your primary tasks will include providing caregiver education during home visits using an early childhood curriculum, connecting families to external resources within Multnomah County, administering developmental screenings, and more.

The right candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish to meet the needs of our clients. They will be highly organized and able to maintain their case files consistently and accurately to meet deadlines. They will be dedicated to the youth and families we serve, able to handle change and stress with patience and understanding, and satisfied from seeing a series of systems come together to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.

This position's primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing caregiver education through twice-monthly home visits and group meetings, using a curriculum aimed at children aged 0-5.
  • Actively recruit families to participate in the program and manage a required caseload of 16 – 20.
  • Completing all required documentation, such as attendance records and screening summaries, in a timely manner and strictly adhering to file-keeping guidelines.
  • Becoming qualified to administer, review, and analyze developmental screenings used as a tool in seeking appropriate resources.
  • Assessing each family's needs and providing developmentally appropriate information and support.

Our ideal candidate must have:

  • A minimum of one year of relevant work or educational experience in Early Childhood Educational environments.
  • One or more years of experience working with young children and their caregivers within a multicultural setting and an understanding of the Latino culture is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to perform required home visits.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • The ability to remain adaptable and calm during high-stress situations.
  • The ability to develop and foster mutually trusting and respectful relationships with families.
  • Flexibility in their schedule, with the occasional evening/weekend required to provide support during events.
  • The ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Some college-level education in Early Childhood Education.
  • “Nurturing Parenting” Certification or other early childhood education certification.
  • One or more years of experience leading developmental activities with children and their caregivers.
  • Experience with case management.
  • Knowledge of community resources, including those available in Multnomah County.
